Kaori Ishijima began studying calligraphy when she was 7 years old in Aichi, Japan. She graduated from the Institute of Calligraphy in Shizuoka, Japan, and is an officer in the Japanese Society of Calligraphic Education. Ms. Ishijima holds the highest rank of calligraphy qualification, Kaiyu, winning the Japanese Foreign Minister’s Award in 2021. She moved to Richmond Heights in 2022.
